Measuring one kilometre, the world’s longest urban zipline boasts an average of 80 kilometres per hour
Unlike Ed Sheeran, I did not break my leg when I was six years old. When I was six, I would tie a towel or bedsheet – depending on what I could get a hold of first – around my neck and jump from one sofa to the other, pretending I was flying through a concrete jungle.
Those memories tend to come rushing back every time I watch yet another superhero flick. Most recently, those thoughts came surging back as I watched Justice League over the long weekend. It’s a memory I share with most of my friends too. Most men claim to have done something similar growing up.
That explains my uncontainable excitement for XDubai’s XLine Dubai Marina. For those unfamiliar with the concept, XDubai has unveiled a new Xline (or zipline) at Dubai Marina. Measuring one kilometre with a 16-degree incline and boasting an average speed of 80 kilometres per hour, the Xline is the world’s longest and fastest urban zipline.
This isn’t XDubai’s first Xline. That accolade goes to the Xline that was set at the Dubai Mall and went over the Dubai Fountain in 2015. The Dubai Marina Xline, however, doubles the length of its predecessor and even offers daring duos the ability to experience it together through two concurrently running ziplines. Adrenaline enthusiasts can zip from one of the Amwaj towers in JBR, 170 metres in the air, weaving through skyscrapers and across the water, down to the terrace of Dubai Marina Mall. They’ll even be able to re-live the experience thanks to the GoPros mounted on their helmets.
So grab the Robin to your Batman or War Machine to your Iron Man and get moving. The Xline is open to both visitors and residents of Dubai for a limited time only.
