Because it’s been a hard day’s night and you’ve been working like a dog
The service: Couple’s massage
The verdict: Whether you’re stressed or jet-lagged, there really isn’t anything a therapeutic massage can’t help with. Heavenly Spa at Westin, truly is heavenly. The sprawling space features wooden finishing, and an essential oil aroma that’s hard to pinpoint, nonetheless, calming. We were shown the mixed and women’s only facilities before heading to the couple’s suite. A jacuzzi, steam bath, and thermal lounges make up the space, and are available to use before and after treatments.
We slipped into our robes, had our feet washed in a warm pebble bath and made our way to the bed for a deep tissue massage. We were then asked to choose from three rocks: love, hope and gratitude, to place under our bed. The massage began with a focus on our backs and shoulders to relieve knots and soothe muscles with prolonged relaxed strokes. The oil was a mixture of cocoa and mango butter, melted together and drizzled over the skin for a moisturising treatment.
Soon after, our legs and feet were massaged, followed by the arms, with similar movements throughout. Medium pressure was applied all along, making my limbs and body ache-free. The best part about the treatment and suites is possibly the stunning view of the canal – try to book an evening appointment, to take in the vibrant landscape during daylight and after hours, when it’s all lit up.
