The EV is finally going into production
The Maserati Alfieri, initially announced in 2014, has finally gone into production with the electric (EV). The electric sports coupe has been highly anticipated, following on the success of Maserati’s Ghibli and Levante.
Comprising of an aluminium spaceframe, the light-weighted EV will weigh 175kg, compared to the petrol-powered vehicle. The hybrid plug-in will incorporate a bi-turbo v6 power plant with battery power, in order to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. The powertrain of this sustainable vehicle is said to be a fully electric e-AWD (all-wheel drive).
Moreover, the Maserati Alfieri will consist of a three-motor setup capable of active torque vectoring. This will serve as the initial step towards Maserati’s ‘Maserati Blue’ electrification startup. Furthermore, the vehicle will have a maximum speed of more than 300 km/h with a 100 km/h sprint. The advantage to this vehicle, compared to others, is that the battery pack is smaller and lighter at 800 volts, resulting in maintaining charging times that are faster – as the vehicle is predicted to use up only 50 percent of the energy from the battery.
Conclusively, all characteristics and specifications of the Maserati Alfieri acts as competition for Elon Musk’s Tesla Model S and the Porsche Mission E.
