The GT 115 is meant for long-distance high-speed cruising
Recently, global carmakers have lined up to manufacture yachts. There’s the Aston Martin AM 37 powerboat and also the 66-foot Bugatti Niniette yacht. The latest luxury car manufacturer to throw its hat into the ring now is Porsche.
Studio F.A. Porsche, the carmaker’s design house, has teamed up with Port Hercules-headquartered Dynamiq to unveil this all-new 115-foot all-aluminium superyacht. Called the GT 115, the vessel is limited to only seven units. The first one is ready and was launched at Viareggio in Italy recently.
The hybrid superyacht is powered by two MAN diesel engines generating 12,594hp and also two 20.8Kw electric motors. On diesel mode, the vessel can cruise at speeds of up to 21knots. Porsche and Dynamiq have designed a special stabilization system that features four electric fins and interceptors to ensure a smooth ride even when the yacht is cruising at close to its top speed.
It can accommodate up to 12 people including six guests and six crew members. There are three cabins below the deck, whereas a fourth one could be added if the owner wants to accommodate additional guests. The yacht has a range of 3,400 nautical miles – it could theoretically do New York to London non-stop.
Dutch studio Vripack were the naval architects on the project, whereas the interiors were designed by Italian fashion house Minotti. The saloon includes floor-to-ceiling windows, wooden flooring and marble-top wooden furniture. In a nod to the carmaker, the throw pillows are made from the same material as the seats in a Porsche 911 R.
There’s a spa pool on the deck above and an al fresco dining area as well. Priced $16 million, this limited-edition yacht is bound to make a (rather large) splash at the Monaco Yacht Show where it will make its public debut later this week.
