The LG HU80KA projector might be in a league of one. Here’s why
While the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is set to get underway in a few hours from now in Las Vegas, LG decided to jump the queue and announce their latest projector ahead of the event. Called the LG HU80KA, this short-throw 4k projector is a lightweight and compact device which will force the competition to raise their game. This new UHD projector is reportedly half the size of any other UHD projectors out there now.
It uses a laser light engine which results in a brightness output of 2500 lumens, making it the company’s brightest projector. The 4k picture can be displayed across 150 inches, plenty enough to fill a large chunk of the wall your project it onto. With HDR10 support, expect superior contrast and a wide range of colours beamed onto the wall.
There are two 7-watt speakers built into the projector, though we’d recommend you connect it to external speakers. The projector is packed with options to pair it to external audio devices including optical, Bluetooth and HDMI audio connectivity options.
It comes with a carry handle and retractable cord and can be placed on the floor, mounted on a wall or hung from the ceiling. It weighs just 6.4 kilos making it very convenient to port around.
While you can plug in a USB and connect a keyboard and mouse to the projector, the projector also comes with LG’s own WebOS. You can Netflix or stream content without having to hook it up to a laptop or any other storage device.
The pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but we expect to learn more about it once the CES kicks off. On display at the CES too will be the entire 2018 range of LG’s projectors including the much-hyped MiniBeam Projector which will feature webOS3.5 and full HD resolution.
