The hand-built limited-edition Brabus Shadow 800 is built for speed

You’re more likely to associate Brabus with the company that tunes and pumps up the power on several Mercedes models. But the German tuner has now partnered with Finnish boat designer Axopar Boats Oy to unveil its first-ever boat – the blacked-out Brabus Shadow 800.

The Shadow 800 is a hand-built motorboat based on Axopar’s 37 Sun Top Model. The 11.2-metre vessel is powered by twin supercharged 400hp Mercury Verado 400R outboards. Those mighty engines propel it to a top speed of 50knots (92kph), which on the water feels very fast.Just as you would find in the interiors of a car fitted with a Brabus kit, here too, you’ll find plenty of carbon fibre, buttery leather and Alcantara spread across the interiors. The infotainment system can be controlled from a touchscreen control panel. The entertainment options include a high-end audio system and a 42-inch flat screen TV with Apple TV connectivity as well.

While the boat can seat 10 passengers, there’s a cabin below that can accommodate two passengers. However, another cabin can be configured to house additional guests.  If you’re at the controls of the vessel, you’ll be relying on Mercury’s joystick piloting system and a state-of-the-art Garmin electronics package. Buyers also receive a Garmin Quatix 5 Sapphire Multisport Marine wristwatch that can display and control the boat’s navigation and the entertainment onboard as well.

There’s good news and bad news with this boat. First the bad: This Shadow 800 is limited to just 20 units, so chances of you securing one are slim. The good news, though, is that Brabus and Axopar have stated that this is only the first in a series of products that they will collaborate on in the future – it might help to put your name down on the list for future products now itself. For the lucky 20 who managed to strike a deal for the Shadow 800, they had to fork out $495,000.
